Postdoctoral fellow September 2014 - Present

Yanwu is working on mRNA-based regulation of fat metabolism in Caenorhabditis elegans. He analyzed C. elegans RNAseq data and identified negative feedback interaction of two factors. In addtion, he used mathematic modeling to predict the behaviors of the two factors.

When Yanwu was learning Python, He created some functions to manipulate biological sequences. Yes, it is easy with string method in python. Go to BioTools

Worm gene ID convertor

In each model oragnism, there are several naming systems for genes. Different analysis tools accept different kind of gene IDs. When you have tens or hudurans genes, there is no easy way to convert gene IDs between each other. Go to Worm gene ID convertor

Locate T-DNA transgene insertion in genome

T-DNA transformation is a major method used for plant transgene. If you have a interested T-DNA transgene line and genomic DNA sequencing data, you may want to know the location of the T-DNA in genome. Yanwu developed a bioinformatic workflow to do the mapping during his PhD study working with Arabidopsis. >>>more

Weather Logger

It is created with Raspberry Pi and several sensors to log real time data(every 2 mins) in a remote database. The plots of data in the last 3 days were generated at O'clock on each day. The data will be shared yearly. Go to Weather Logger

Introduction to Bioinformatics

Yanwu started to introuce Linux and R to the people in the lab on each Friday. He is still working on the presentations. View slides
